President Droupadi Murmu signs Waqf (Amendment) bill 2025 into law

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 officially became a law. The bill is already facing challenges in the Supreme Court, with Congress MP Mohammad Jawed and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi contesting its constitutional validity in separate pleas. Both Houses ran past midnight while engaging in discussion and debate over the Bill. Along with the Waqf Amendment Bill, the Rajya Sabha also passed the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, 2024, after a 17-hour sitting, a day after it was cleared by the lower house.
